Are you an experienced manager looking for a fun and challenging part time position? Join the PAMP staff team!  This small group of part-time workers are dedicated to keeping PAMP running smoothly and maximizing member experience and value through the organization.

PAMP (The Parents Club of Palo Alto and Menlo Park) is a member-based  nonprofit organization for parents. Our mission is to enrich the lives of families with young children, by providing resources, support and community in Palo Alto, Menlo Park and the surrounding areas. We are seeking an experienced professional to take the role of Operations Manager (OM), to provide leadership and oversight for all day to day operations of the organization. The OM reports into the Co-Presidents of the Board, and works with the board and staff to set the strategy and manage the organization. The OM provides leadership to the other 3 part time staff members (Events Manager, Membership Manager, and Marketing & Communications Manager), along with volunteers.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Generalist or seasoned Operations Manager with management experience and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management.


TITLE:  Operations Manager


SALARY:  To be determined, commensurate with experience

HOURS:  approximately 25-30 hrs/week

LOCATION: Telecommute, with regular meetings in Palo Alto/Menlo Park area


  • Provide input on and lead execution of deliverables to achieve strategic goals and objectives established by PAMP's Board of Directors as well as the overall management of the organization’s operations.

  • Represent the organization externally, as necessary

  • Establish staff goals and objectives, set priorities, and identify operational improvements

  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the organizations’ staff members and volunteer teams.

  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

  • Support the Treasurer in the preparation of the annual budget for review and approval of the board of directors, and in ongoing monitoring of budget variances.

  • Lead a team responsible for PAMP's systems, including the membership/website system

  • Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly.

  • Maintain, establish, and build strong relationships with key sponsors, business partners, and city officials

  • Work with the Board Co-Presidents to establish the Sponsorship program goals and objectives, along with program details (benefits, pricing) each year

  • Own the Sponsorship program, working with local businesses and organizations for online and event sponsorships. Manage the process of selling and tracking sponsorships


  • Business or Communications degree preferred

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a management role ideally in a high-growth organization

  • Experience either as an employee or board member of a nonprofit organization a plus; Need to be familiar with nonprofit finance and accounting regulations

  • Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills

  • Entrepreneurial team player who can complete concurrent tasks of varied nature

  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers

  • Self reliant, good problem solver, results oriented

  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, dependable and proactive

  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, PAMP’s board of directors, and staff

  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker

  • Flexible hours required: available for occasional meetings/conference calls in the evenings starting as late as 7pm/8pm while being available for some meetings during typical business hours


Location: Telecommute; covering Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Los Altos

Compensation: To be determined, commensurate with experience
