About the Parents' Club

Our membership includes all sorts of families -- parents ranging from their early twenties to their early fifties; families with one child or five; stay-at-home dads, working moms, and parents who shared life duties in a multitude of ways; all types of parenting styles, religious beliefs, political leanings, and personal aspirations. Most have at least one child under five, but our resources can appeal to families with older children, and they are also welcome.

What we all have in common, however, is an awareness that parenting is tough (though incredibly rewarding) and that it is much more fun (and easier) when done within a supportive community like this club. Although most activities take place in the Palo Alto/Menlo Park area, we have nearly 3,000 member families extending up and down the Peninsula, San Francisco Bay Area, and South Bay.

We offer a range of programs, services, and activities designed for young families:

  • Email List - lively discussions and invaluable tips on absolutely everything with input and advice from the entire membership (almost 3000 families!)
  • General Meetings and Special Sessions - regular meetings each month with local experts on topics from infant sleep to kindergarten readiness and everything in between
  • Playgroups Coordination - helps families find groups based on common location, ages, interests
  • Preschool Reviews and the Yahoogroups archives contain information and personal insights from fellow club families. COMING SOON: An interactive Preschool Database.
  • Monthly Newsletter - full of news and information on events, activities, and resources.
  • Club Website - our resource for sharing information with club members and the community.
  • Elementary and Preschool Open Houses - trade show style event with all of the local schools represented, plus seminars on how to choose

All of these programs and services are free for members. Dues are $48/year plus two hours of volunteer service sometime during the year. The fee covers all newsletters, speaker fees, programs, room rentals, supplies, and refreshments. The volunteer requirement is what makes our organization so dynamic and successful and helps you make friends in the community!
