New Beginnings

Letter-from-the-BOD-300x279

January always brings a lot excitement when thinking about the myriad of new opportunities to come, new chances to accomplish the things we never got to in the last year, and daring us to make our most distant dreams come true. The 365 days ahead are a blank slate…you may hold a new baby, job, or new degree, or even a leadership position at PAMP!

In the weeks to come, the current Board of Directors will start recruitment process for the next Board with the term starting in June 2012. You will see posts in the forums and on the website asking members to submit their candidacies for these positions. We want each and every member (and that means you!) to consider this amazing opportunity to shape the future of PAMP. It is a chance to polish your skills and show off the talents that may have remained dormant amidst feedings, potty training and homework. It is a prospect of working with some amazingly gifted parents as well as the ambition of continuing to enhance PAMP and then seeing the fruits of your labor.

The current 2011-2012 Board dared to dream big and has been working hard to implement our ambitious strategic plan. We are now seeing the results of our efforts, when accomplishing a long sought-after goal to hire our first-ever PAMP Executive Director in the 20-year history of the Club. It takes our breath away to see how the work of many Boards before us has finally come together and we are thrilled to introduce Amourence Lee as PAMP’s new Executive Director. We are convinced that with her guidance and the dedication of our volunteers, the Club will reach heights never seen before.

We had several strong candidates, and Amourence’s experience with board development, operations leadership, fundraising and technical skills convinced the hiring committee that she is the best candidate to take PAMP forward into a very exciting future. That’s not to mention her proven experience, as Project Manager, in realizing our ambitious tactical plan in an extremely challenging environment! Thank you to the committee for all your time and thoughtful dedication to this process. Please help me welcome and congratulate Amourence on her new role!

As you think about your new year’s resolutions for 2012, I encourage every one of you to consider the opportunity to serve on the next Board and give back to the community that has given so much to you.

Happy New Year!
Tatyana Ventura
PAMP President 2011-2012
