As membership manager, Kristen Podulka is one of PAMP’s paid staff members. “I serve as an information booth for PAMP members,” Kristen says. In her role, she handles all aspects of membership registration, both for new and renewing members and fields all registration-related questions. She also works to ensure that member contact information is complete and accurate. In addition, she manages PAMP’s “info” and “membership” email aliases. This involves responding to inquiries or routing messages to the appropriate PAMP leaders.
She also has duties that get her out from behind her computer screen. She provides support to the Large Events Team and the Vice President of Volunteer Relations by managing volunteers at large events, attends recruitment events and fairs and attends PAMP’s monthly Meet & Eat events to assist with member registration and answer questions.
“What’s not to like?” Kristen says about her position. “I get to work from home, get paid to meet PAMP members at awesome events and get to work with the super-smart and talented members of the board of directors and staff. Plus, I have the inside scoop on all PAMP events and happenings throughout the year. I tell everybody that I have a dream job!”
Kristen has been a PAMP member since she moved to Palo Alto in 2011. She and her family, which includes her husband, a son in Kindergarten and a daughter in preschool, live in the Greenmeadow neighborhood.
1. What is the last non-kid movie you saw? My hubby and I saw Lincoln at the movies when my Dad was recently in town to babysit. It was a great film!
3. What’s at the top of your to-do list? For me, bake blueberry muffins, get a massage, and get a pedicure. For the kids, a presentation on Denmark is due on Friday for my daughter’s preschool class (yes for preschool!), and my son is student-of-the-week next week, so we have an entire poster board and presentation to do for him as well. (Now you see why I need the massage and muffins!)
4. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character? Prairie Dawn—hands down!
5. Why are you a PAMP volunteer? I do it to meet moms in the area and build a support system for raising my family here. With all my family living in Michigan, it was really important to me to get to know my neighbors and make friends that I can trust and depend on. PAMP has done just that for me!
