Cheryl Bac hosts Monday’s Blanket Babies at Parents Place in Palo Alto. Her job involves attending Blanket Babies every week, greeting parents and nannies that attend and answering any questions about the group that may arise. She also manages email correspondence for the event as well.
“It is so much fun to meet new mothers and see old friends every week,” she says. “We “awe” at the itty bitty babies, listen to mothers who have had a rough week and PLAY. The room has so many toys for the babies and toddlers to play with.”
Cheryl and her son enjoy spending time outside of the house and with others. “Blanket Babies has been a wonderful way for us to meet new moms and nannies to form our own play groups. Many of us meet up throughout the week, not just on Mondays.”
Before becoming a mom, Cheryl loved to run marathons. She says, “When my son is older, I would love to start running again and tackle the New York City Marathon.”
Cheryl and her husband live in Menlo Park with their 14-month-old son, Camden. “I moved here in February of this year, and I thought that joining PAMP would be a fun way to meet people — I was right. We are having a great time in the Bay Area.”
1. What is the last non-kid movie you saw?
In Time. We love watching movies and TV shows on Netflix.
2. Are you a Bay Area native or transplant?
Transplant. I grew up in Wisconsin and went to school in Maine and Virginia.
3. What’s at the top of your to-do list?
Finding fun activities to do with my son. Right now we are doing a “book-a-day” theme where I read him a book and give him activities to do that relate to it. We’ve had a great time with it and I write about it on my personal blog: www.gottatryit.blogspot.com. I also blog at Palo Alto Online.
4. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
Right now we enjoy seeing celebrities come onto Sesame Street and sing. My son likes Will.I.Am’s “What I Am”.
5. Why are you a PAMP volunteer?
My son and I enjoy meeting new mothers, fathers, kids and nannies. I went to Blanket Babies every week, so why not host?
